Set up MFA (2FA)

Steps for setting multifactor authentication in the most popular services.

Multifactor authentication or MFA supplements the password with an additional identity check, e.g. a 6-digit code from the authentication app.

Recommended applications: Google Authenticator, Australia, 1 or Bitwarden.

Basic steps:

  1. Open account security settings.
  2. Choose Two-Factor Authentication, MFA or 2-Step Verification.
  3. Add the authentication app by scanning the QR code.
  4. Reserve codes shall be stored in a secure place.
  5. Activates MFA for all important accounts for email, bank, cloud services, work systems and social networks.

Essential: MFA also reduces the risk of unauthorised access when the password is compromised.
